Description
:
Mawamaba Lodge invites guests to explore Tortuguero, land of incredible biological diversity. At night, from July to September, impressive green sea turtles nest on the beach. The hotel is a tropical sanctuary for more than 300 species of birds and a natural habitat for an amazing array of wildlife, such as monkeys, crocodiles and iguanas, among many others. Discover the lush vegetation that abounds in the midst of the rainforest.
Location:
Mawamba Lodge is on the northeast end of Costa Rica\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Caribbean coast, on a sand bar between the Tortuguero Canals and the Caribbean Ocean. The excellent location provides direct access to the pristine beach and the canals. Nestled in the lush rainforest, this is the ideal hideaway for nature lovers and the perfect place to discover the wonders of Tortuguero National Park. The lodge is on a 15-acre beachfront property on the right side of Tortuguero, offering beautiful views of Tortuguero Lagoon and the canals.
Hotel Facilities:
During your stay, enjoy the pool, surrounded by exotic gardens where you can enjoy exotic tropical cocktails and relax in the rancho’s hammocks. Stroll through the nature trails or take a leisurely walk on the pristine beach in front of the lodge. The family-style restaurant serves up delicious international and local cuisine. The pool area is home to a red-eyed tree frog project, where you can observe these lovely animals in their natural habitat.
Recommended Activities:
A recently added entertainment/games room area features a pool table, darts, foosball and various table games for adults & children. Drinks, including sodas, beer and juices are also available in this area. A souvenir shop stocks items of personal nature and local and Costa Rican souvenirs and crafts. Tours include: Crocodile tour: When seen in the wild, crocodiles inspire a bit of fear, respect and yet, curiosity. In Costa Rica, two species of crocodiles can be found: caimans and the American crocodile. The caiman tends to be easier to spot. Mangrove Tour: Mangroves are a group of unrelated woody plants that grow on protected tropical coasts; this tour takes you through their incredible variety.
